movies i've recently seen

#1- Defiance
i stumbled across this one in the movie store and it ended up being pretty amazing. it's about the Bielski brothers- Jewish farmers during the time of the Nazis whose parents are killed and they flee into the forest. in the forest they find other Jews hiding out and band together. the movie is all about their story living in the forest and fighting off/hiding from the Nazis. it's really intense but also an amazing true story and definitely worth watching!

#2- Daybreakers
in theaters right now- jumping on the vampire bandwagon, the plot is that a virus has turned much of the world into vampires . unlike the cuddly, sparkly vampires of Twilight, these vampires are terrifying and mean. they've been farming the humans for blood but the supply is almost gone. the one good vampire is trying to find a human blood substitute but of course there are all kinds of snafus along the way. really the worst part of this movie was the incredible gore throughout. but unnecessary gore. it literally looks like someone is tossing buckets of fake blood onto the scene and people's limbs/heads just explode off. terrible terrible terrible.

#3- 17 Again
i just watched this last night, and it was excellent. now any of you who would be interested in this have probably all seen it already so i won't go into it too much. but it stars zac efron as a high school student. so it's pretty much right up his ally. if you do get conned into seeing daybreakers, this is a good one to watch afterwards. some nice contrast to the violent terrible gore.

#4- Avatar
also in theaters- excellent. i was hesitant to see it at first cause it seemed a bit too sci-fi for me, but after all the good reviews, i caved in, and it was really good. the 3-D technology is worth it in itself, and it's so well done that (for the most part) you don't even think about the fact that you're watching an alien world and that it's really bizarre. it definitely sucks you in. there were a few parts that you could tell were political jabs and i could have done without that, but oh well. James Cameron has been working on this since 1994. it would have been released in 1999 but he said "technology needed to catch up" with his vision. now that's patience and dedication. but be aware that if your theater has it in 3D they'll charge you an extra 3 bucks- the one downside. but i still recommend it!

we just joined netflix at my house- any movies i should get?

i loved defiance! i mostly use my parents netflix account to watch old Lost episodes, but I'll let you know if I see any good movies. Time Traveler's Wife was sad but really good (just like the book).

netflix is great b/c you can stream some movies/tv series right to your computer! I've been reading about people who saw avatar and got depressed ("blue" haha...) b/c they fell in love with this fantasy world and its not real... I'm here if you need to talk :)
