i got a job!

i got a job this morning! its actually with the "virginia institute of chiropractic" ill be doing reception work and learning how to conduct scans, and then maybe eventually being trained to be a wellness instructor for local companies, which would be sweet. it happened kinda randomly, my mom and i went in this morning (chad, the chiropractor who's also a family friend) had mentioned to my mom about a possible job a while ago, and so while we were in she brought it up and actually a new position had just opened up, so me and him talked for a bit and then he offered it to me! its not what i was originally looking for, but it actually seems to be perfect. the hours are what i wanted, he's good with my schedule, and the people there are cool. plus the job i was going to interview today i found out that they had been under investigation for abuse charges....hmmm not a great environment probably. so anyways, i start monday! ill let ya know how it goes! now im off to northern virginia! im shadowing a special ed teacher at stina's mom's school tomm and then katie's bridal shower on sunday!

ok so ive finally finished cleaning out my room! hooray! here is one final picture of fraggle rock and labyrinth and my pot rosegabelda that i made in high school (oh it is ugly...and now...gone) also, my folks got back from CA last night, and they brought me homemade booties that melissa (jon's girlfriend) made me for graduation! she has officially woven her way into my heart. anyways, i have another interview tomorrow so hopefully that will go well.

memorial day

so ive never been to the jungle...but id imagine it looks something like our front yard. so today i set out to mow it, which was quite the adventure. first i had to actually venture into the shed where the mower was, aka spider kingdom. so that was frightening, then i had to fill the mower with gas, which i managed to spill all over, but then i got to mowin. it went well overall and i got it all mowed, although i realized how true to life the jungle joke was when i discovered wildlife living in the grass! i was mowing and a rabbit jumped out of the grass 2 feet in front of me and scampered away, i couldnt even see it below the reeds! i was very glad it jumped out in time!

ok....i think ive decided to throw away my labyrinth and fraggle rock posters. katie...you were right, i think its time. im cleaning out my room at home and i just have so many "treasures" its overwhelming. its time to clean house a bit. and as the posters are old and ripped and i dont know that ill hang them again, i think i should toss them. although this is hard for me, as i feel as if im throwing away a little piece of me....i guess they'll live on in my heart. whew ok here goes...

so the interview yesterday went...good and bad. good in the sense that they liked me, bad in the sense there may not be a ton of summer work, instead they spent about an hour recruiting me for a year round position starting in the fall. there may be some summer work, ill just have to see....so still lookin on the job front!

this was after he ate an olive that expired 6 months ago and couldnt tell if it was bad....just another day at the thollander house!

oh and i took a picture of the creepy foot tall wax bear. notice my finger for scale. it sits on our front porch...stinking up the whole outside world. and ya...it does look like it has real hair. if anyone wants it....:)

first day home

well, i've just arrived back in charlottesville. matt came down to help move me out, which was awesome since i didnt realize how many of my belongings (like bed parts) that i couldn't actually lift! on our way out of town we ate at gus's hot dog king....have ya'll noticed that place? its right next to sno to go, and everytime matt sees it he comments on how the name doesnt make sense, but that it looks awesome... like does gus own the hot dog king....or is he the hot dog king? , so we stopped and "enjoyed" some hot dog kings. i must say im not that sad we never went there....but now we're home safe and settling in. oh and i have an interview tomorrow! its at three so hopefully itll go well! and for those of you who i told about the creepy wax bear...it is still on the porch, and still smelling awful. ill try to take a picture of it tomorrow
