moving!

i'm moving into a house in charlottesville! yesterday i moved my furniture over and today i moved most of the rest of my stuff. i'm at my folks house now and im not sure if i'll be able to get my internet up tonight so i wanted to post before i went back over.

i'll be living with 3 other girls- my friend karen from high school, our old assistant field hockey/soccer coach, and a friend of hers from college. the house is great and i'm really excited. i'll try and take pictures tonight and post them tomorrow. it's about a 5 min drive to work and walking distance to downtown, so that will be great! i'll be sharing a room with one of the girls, but the room is huge and there's plenty of space. there's even a futon in it! i think my favorite part is the giant fenced in backyard- perfect for cookouts or just hanging out!

my phone lives!

so after i posted about my phone dieing i talked to kt and she suggested putting it in rice for 24 hours to suck out all the moisture. as soon as i got off the phone with her my friends visiting from nashville walked in and said the same thing. i took this fantastic advice as a sign and did it. after a few hours i took out my phone....it was still buzzing some, not consistently, more like a bee going to sleep... but i had been impatient- back into the rice it went. the next day i took out my phone, put the battery in, and it worked! it's been perfect since then! although i was a bit sad not to be getting a new phone quite yet, it's always nice when your electronics live to see another day.

and also for future reference- putting your wet phone in rice DOES really work.

this morning i spilled a glass of water on my phone. 2 years ago i dropped my phone in a cup of water. it survived its first water experience. not so much this time. i took out the battery and tried to dry it out as best i could, but every time i put the battery in it vibrates continually. i do believe it can send and receive calls, but again...it vibrates continually. it also shuts off at random. so anyways, i'll check my voicemail periodically and such, but for the meantime if you need me it will probably be best to reach me by email. i'll let you know when the problem is resolved.

care for a moonpie?

today i was at sam's club and at one of the sample stands a guy was cutting up moonpies and putting them on a platter with little toothpicks in them. now i find moonpies pretty gross, but it was still quite a funny scene. it reminded me of a little debbie cocktail hour.

jon and melissa set a wedding date! it will be october 10 at a vineyard outside of san francisco. i'm incredibly excited!

exciting stuff

last thursday i went to the albemarle county fair and look what they had-

now i didn't actually go on this ride so i don't know if this really is the "world's most exciting ride" but i have my doubts.

although it does look like it spins really fast.
