tomorrow i complete my first year working in education. although at times it has been trying, overall it has been incredibly rewarding and i feel so blessed to do what i do. i have at times been affirmed in my ability to do my job, and at other times humbled at my inadequacies. i have been blessed to see many students make incredible progress, and had my heart broken at the situations of others. i am so thankful to work with the staff that i do, and love the kids i get to work with.
it's comforting and exciting to know that i'll be continuing in the same job come fall. this is the first time i've had multi-year consistency with work and it feels good. i've also decided to start down the path to get my license/masters in special ed, and will possibly be starting evening classes in the fall (i'm applying to a grad program now).
anyways, those are just some more reflective life updates, but i felt that they were due. monday i begin my summer job full time (i'll be leading a camp in town for kids with disabilities) and that will bring with it its own set of challenges and encouragements i'm sure.
in the meantime i will enjoy my last day of school tomorrow and get ready for the summer!

Jennie - that's so exciting about grad programs! I'm glad this year has gone well and I can't wait to hear more about your summer job!
I'm so happy that this has worked out well for you...and to have another friend in education! I'm sure many of those students have been blessed to have you there too! Just remember next year when you're working full time and doing the classes...it's a means to an end and it goes by fast!
